Additional Commentary

Internet hunting is a relatively new phenomenon where the "hunter" pays a confined hunting facility in a remote location to "hunt" using virtual technology from their home computer. However the hunter operates a real gun and kills real animals using their computer controls. It is similar to computer hunting games, except that the ammunition is live and the animal ends up dead.

Internet hunting is an issue related to canned hunts as it usually takes place on a hunting preserve. Many states have already introduced or passed legislation banning internet hunting with hunters and animal advocates alike supporting the ban. To see which states have passed internet hunting bans, search under the Laws and Legislation section, category "hunting," key word "internet" on the AnimalLaw.com website.
